Job scope: Responsible for billing for center Intellectual Disabilities provider and authority program services programs. The Billing Specialist operates and maintains billing systems for various programs within developmental disability service array. The position is responsible for data entry relevant to billing systems and processing of accounts payable for a variety of payer sources. The position ensures that all claims or invoices are submitted accurately and within required timeframes. Maintains proper backup for all related third party billing and contract transactions and submits monthly billing reports to the Center's accounting department. The position also assists in audits as necessary and required by applicable payers and contractors. Position requires use of independent judgment, an in-depth understanding of specified state contracts and third party/contract billing and payment requirements, MIS programs, and the ability to interact with peers, program managers and state contract managers.
Education/licensure:
High School Diploma Required - Completion of courses in business / business administration preferred
Current valid driver's license in state of residence.
Experience/Knowledge:
Requires advanced organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
Requires advanced oral and written communication skills with emphasis on extracting and providing concise and accurate information
Requires knowledge of center third party funding sources / programs and applicable billing requirements
Experience in Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding preferred.
Knowledge of basic business administration principles
Demonstrates aptitude for logical and deliberate problem solving and decision making
Demonstrates competency in Microsoft Word / Excel and ability to learn multiple billing software applications
Computer data entry experience / emphasizing speed and accuracy.
