Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.
We are now hiring Full-Time Peer Support Partner Specialists in Bergen County, NJ to provide person-centered care tailored to meet the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Community Options believes in the dignity of every person, and in the freedom of all people to experience the highest degree of self-determination. The Peer Support Partner Specialist provides family supports and resources as part of a team that assists youth and their families through crises to success.
We are offering a $1,500 initial sign-on bonus opportunity for New Hires! (Must complete 90 days of satisfactory employment to be eligible). New hires will be eligible for a subsequent bonus of $1,500 after 9 months of satisfactory employment. New hires will be eligible for Day 1 benefits upon hire!
Starting pay is $21.63/ hour
Responsibilities
- Provide family support, education, and advocacy
- Coordinate resources
- Connect families within the community
- Participate in building support teams
- Ensure family and youth voice is incorporated in all program operations
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with families receiving supports
- Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations
- Strong advocate for peers
- Must have experience as caregiver or primary support person of youth with IDD and/or dual diagnosis
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in human service or related field with two years of experience providing support to youth caregivers who have I/DD and/or I/DD and mental health needs
- Hold NJ Peer Support Partner certification or has ability to obtain one
