- Pay Range: $13.00 to $17.50

Summary: Cultivates and maintains landscaping and grounds surrounding campus buildings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cares for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, trimming and edging around flower beds, walks and walls.
- Plants flowers, pulls weeds, repairs structures and maintains outside of buildings as needed.
- Applies pesticides to rid grounds of pests such as mosquitos, wasps, ticks and others.
- Mixes, sprays and spreads fertilizers, herbicides or insecticides using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
- Determines and plants appropriate seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees and shrubs.
- Uses gardening tools to apply mulch for protection.
- Attaches wires from planted trees to support stakes.
- Interprets construction documents and successfully implements the design.
- Operates construction-related equipment as needed.
- Follows standard operating procedures for assigned tasks and projects; follows all safety protocol.
- Attends training as required.
- Deploys for emergency response due to inclement weather, i.e. snow and ice, tornado or other crisis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of experience in landscape construction.
- Valid driver's license.
- Basic ability to interpret and implement construction documents.
- Intermediate ability to operate construction-related equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Extensive driving, walking and equipment operation. Exposure to: extreme weather conditions, pesticides, fertilizers, pollen producing environment paint and petroleum products. Work time expectation: 90% of time will be physical labor, 10% training and misc.
