In the Language Villages, everything from the music played to the dishes used in the dining hall reflect the cultures each was designed to represent. We are a community from all corners of the globe, passionate about learning every minute of the day.
Japanese Family Weekend offers a great way for families to spend time together, discover new foods, play games, make crafts, enjoy music and take part in outdoor fun. Program staff lead activities, teach interactive student-centered classes for adults and children, sing songs, play games, and allow participants of all ages to have a unique Japanese immersion experience.

Program staff lead activities, teach interactive student-centered classes for adults and children, sing songs, play games, and allow participants of all ages to have a unique Japanese immersion experience.
Program Leader
- Develop and implement a linguistically and culturally appropriate learner-centered program for the Village, working in consultation with the Program Director.
- Hire, orient and supervise Language Teacher(s) and Cultural Assistant(s).
- Create and implement the educational curriculum.
- Arrange for pre-session planning: communications for registrants, choose texts (if applicable), supplies, assessments (if applicable), and placement tools (if applicable).
- Under the direction of the Program Leader or other Director, plan and teach classes and lead cultural activities to promote language learning for participants of all ages.
- Maintain communication with the Program Leader on the progress of all participants.
- Assist with other aspects of the program, including cultural presentations and activity periods.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the Program Leader/Director.
- Be familiar with and abide by Concordia Language Villages’ Employee Policies.
- Promote all staff members’ and participants’ health, safety, and well-being.
- Develop and maintain collegial relationships among all staff, including support staff, for a productive working atmosphere at the Village that promotes the mission of the Language Villages.
- Speak the target language with participants and staff members as much as possible.
- Proficiency in target language and in English, Intermediate or higher
- Skill with learners in the relevant age demographic (we have programs for school groups families, including young children; and, adults across the age spectrum)
- Skills in related cultural/recreational areas
- Current US work authorization required
- Ability to travel to Bemidji, Minn.
- Teaching experience preferred for some roles but not required
- Previous experience with Concordia Language Villages or other experiential learning, preferred
