Administrative Assistant
Tribal School
Department of Human Services
Hourly Wage: $15.74-$17.72/Regular/Full-Time
Administrative Assistant provides support services to the Tribal School parents, students, staff, and the general public. Assist with the process of student records, transcripts, enrollment, transfers, withdrawals, and maintaining student records at Yakama Nation Tribal School. Prioritizes workload daily to ensure smooth workflow to maintain office efficiency; greets parents, visitors, clients, and the general public accordingly.
Examples of Work Performed:
Follows policies and procedures of the Yakama Nation Tribal School Board, and Yakama Nation Education Programs.
Maintain all student records relative to enrollment, attendance, and participation in school program activities.
Verifies student information requested by school officials.
Input information to the computer by initially setting up encoding of NASIS program.
Maintain student record by monitoring all enrollment records.
Complete school officials' requests by verifying student information.
Utilize secretarial knowledge, abilities and skills to enhance the program services.
Know each student by memorizing and recognizing record information.
Maintain communication with supervisors by consistently discussing issues with supervisor and/or Program Manager.
Participate in meetings, trainings, and conferences as assigned.
Travel to on-site locations with the services for staff convenience when needed.
Pick up and deliver needed supplies, materials, and equipment.
Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of current education practices, methods, and techniques used in the education system.

Ability to demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
Ability to perform typing at an acceptable level of proficiency and accuracy.
Ability to understand and apply available operating guidelines.

Ability to express ideas effectively in writing and orally.
Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments and complete them in a timely manner.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Must participate in division in-services as it pertains to work responsibilities.
Attend meetings, locally and regionally that are required to ensure that student aspects of division operations are in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Minimum Requirements:
Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
Two years experience as Office Assistant IV.
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
Required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving Permit.
Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Requirements:
Certificate or degree in a secretarial course of study from an institution of higher learning or an approved business school.
Salary : $15 - $18
