Plant Manager
Reporting to the President, the Plant Manager will be responsible overseeing manufacturing operations at our Dayton-area facility.
In the first 6-12 months, the focus of this role will be on turning around performance. This business has high growth potential and requires a more stable operational base on which to grow. After 12 months, the focus of this role will become building operations for growth.
Responsibilities
Lead team in safely and efficiently producing high quality product under budget and on time.
- Safety is our #1 priority - Drive safety on the floor, rapidly responding to any incidents and proactively implementing measures to prevent future incidents
- Keep the customer front of mind for every production associate, driving the production of a high quality product; lead team in achieving 100% OTD for our top customers
- Drive employee engagement on the floor, regularly walking floor to communicate with employees and overseeing the creation of materials that connect the dots with our mission, vision and results
- Run a tight, efficient operation:
- Ensure orders are scheduled across machinery in a manner that balances capacity and minimizes change overs
- Develop manning plan that maximizes efficiency; collaborate with HR to ensure that adequate cross-training systems are in place to support efficient allocation of people; manage direct labor budget
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure adequate Raw Materials are in inventory to service orders
- Collaborate with Quality to quickly address customer complaints or requests; drive training and communications to ensure that all employees understand how to create a high-quality product; ensure all employees have access to clear, standardized production instructions that drive consistency; build quality into process, establishing systems that manage for human error
- Collaborate with Commercial team to remain apprised of revenue plan; drive operational planning for new sources of revenue; execute on operational plan, ensuring that we launch on schedule and under budget
- Lead team in following best practices for production operations, including, but not limited to lean, SIOP meetings, gemba walks, 5S and metrics boards
- Drive cost-out and continuous improvements projects; oversee manufacturing engineers in identifying “big win” projects to drive operational improvements; supervise timely execution of projects, delivering results on schedule and under budget
- Oversee maintenance team in maintaining and repairing machinery, ensuring that appropriate PM schedule is in place and followed; minimize down time; manage budget for maintaining and repairing capital equipment
- Oversee facilities, delivering projects on schedule and under budget
- Report out on operational results to executive leadership
Qualifications and Requirements
- 10 years experience in Manufacturing – with demonstrated experience driving results in operational improvements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analysis skills; capable at downloading data from ERP and analyzing it in Excel
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Experience driving the implementation of operations software, a plus
- Experience in automotive a plus
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline
- 10% travel
