What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infant/Toddler Teaching Assistant position at Congressional School?
Congressional School seeks full-time Early Childhood Teaching Assistants to work in our Infant/Toddler classrooms starting in mid-late July. This is a full-time position with scheduled hours of Monday - Friday. The Teaching Assistant will work with children ages 6 weeks to 3 years.
The Teaching Assistant will assist in planning and implementing the daily program; actively supervise the classroom and playgrounds at all times; and observe, interact, and engage with children. Duties will include maintaining proper adult to child ratios with each age grouping and classroom; monitoring the playground and classroom at all times; helping with meals, and snacks; and following daily staffing schedule and assisting in rooms when requested by the Early Childhood Coordinator or Lead Teachers.
Qualified candidates will have experience working with infants and toddlers. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in a child related field or a child development/early childhood credential.
Requirements include the ability to lift or carry children weighing up to 25 pounds throughout the course of the day and the ability to regularly bend, stoop and crouch in order to physically interact with children and ensure their safety. Qualified candidates must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with children, parents, and co-workers.
