What are the responsibilities and job description for the Campus-Based Community Job Coach position at Conroe Independent School District?
Assist professional staff serving students needing unique strategies and interventions for academic, social or personal growth.
- Encourage students to socialize with co-workers and model appropriate ways to do so.
Implement systematic instruction and data collection as directed.
Model procedures at the job site to teach required job and related skills to a student worker.
Assist in preparing or organizing materials for job training.
Explain training techniques and involve supervisors and co-workers in training.
Become proficient in students’ communication methods and strategies.
Work with teacher to determine effective strategies for fading the job coaches’ assistance while maintaining acceptable worker output.
Act as a troubleshooter and/or liaison to problem-solve situations that the student might encounter.
Assist students with personal care needs who may require help with feeding, dressing, bathroom needs or personal hygiene in the classroom and community setting.
Assist students with physical needs who may require transferring to and from wheelchairs, and/or lifting and positioning in the classroom and community setting.
Assist students with behavioral needs who may require physical guidance, physical restraint or other strategies used in non-violent crisis intervention.
Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students and parents.
Maintain confidentiality.
Promote a positive attitude in reference to the school district in community settings.
Sensitive to the mental, physical, emotional and social needs of a student with a disability.
Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience working with students in secondary school settings
Education/Certification:
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate (must obtain within 30 days of employment)
- CPI Certification (must obtain within 90 days of employment)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to work with students with disabilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to perform tasks as assigned with flexibility to adapt to change
- Assist in maintaining a positive work environment
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. May be required to lift/position students with physical needs, biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases; interpret policy, procedures and data. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
