What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Assistant position at Continuing Care Management?

Responsibilities:
- Encourage social communication among residents through group activities and recreation.
- Encourage parties, provide games and encourage residents to assist in the planning; e.g., making table decorations, wrapping gifts, planning party room, etc.
- Encourage residents to participate in religious activities to fulfill their basic spiritual needs, through visits with chaplain, attendance at religious services whenever possible, spiritual reading material and others.
- Encourage intellectual/educational development through appropriate recreation.
- Visit for one-on-one personal contact.
- Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team as set forth in the Tapestry Program Mission Statement
- Other duties as directed by the Recreation Director
Minimum Requirements:
- Must have high school diploma and must be of good moral character.
- Must be in good mental and physical condition and willing to work with residents.
- Must possess ability to cooperate and motivate staff.
- Prefer some training in arts and crafts.
- Must have an understanding of the social, psychological, and recreational need of the residents.
- Must have the ability to plan and organize activities under the direct supervision of the Recreation Director.
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm and be able to handle residents based on the maturity level under which they are currently functioning.
