Overview
The Non-Clinical Scientist will be responsible for planning, designing, and oversight of MED Institute non-clinical testing projects. Non-clinical studies are conducted to support safety and efficacy, in the service of developing new medical devices, biologic therapies, cellular and gene therapies, combination products, and pharmaceuticals. The Non-Clinical Scientist will be responsible for working with MED team members to design new studies, develop protocols, write reports and assist with drafting manuscripts for presentation and publication.
Responsibilities
- Understand client expectations and needs, provide solutions to R&D programs, while driving toward scientific excellence;
- Create a collaborative relationship to address needs of clients;
- Interact with management, technical leadership and clients to plan, complete, analyze and report results of studies, tests, and literature reviews;
- Drive the day-to-day, hands-on performance of non-clinical animal studies;
- Ensure compliance with regulations and applicable standards;
- Troubleshoot animal study issues, analyze, and interpret results;
- Assure that study deliverables and tasks are technically excellent and completed in a timely fashion;
- Assure that appropriate documentation is kept detailing project history (reports, laboratory notebooks, scientific literature, meeting notes, deliverables); and
- Maintain and develop the technical capabilities necessary to provide technical solutions to clients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in animal science, pharmaceutical science, or life sciences;
- Background in lab animal research;
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant industry experience;
- Ability to perform study duties and responsibilities in multiple species with minimal supervision;
- Must be flexible to work various schedules and hours as well as provide comprehensive, after hours, and on-call coverage as needed;
- Good communication skills and attention to detail;
- Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic team/work environment; and
- Comprehensive understanding of the requirements for GLP study execution and documentation is required
- Willingness to travel as needed.
