Nursery Lead
Reports To: Headmaster
Position Classification: Part-Time, 10-Month Contract
Position Overview
The Nursery Lead at Cornerstone Classical School provides Christ-centered, nurturing care to infants and toddlers, creating a warm and structured environment that reflects the love of Christ. This role supports the physical, emotional, spiritual, and developmental needs of children from approximately 6 months to 2 years old. The teacher creates consistent routines, maintains a safe and inviting classroom, and partners with parents to provide care rooted in love, trust, and attentiveness.
Key Responsibilities
-Daily Care & Safety
Provide attentive, age-appropriate care for infants and toddlers, including feeding, diapering, supporting potty training, and ensuring rest time.
Supervise children at all times to ensure safety, gently guiding them with patience and consistency.
Comfort and nurture children through physical affection, soothing presence, and attentive care.
Maintain clean, safe classroom conditions in accordance with health and safety standards.
-Spiritual Formation & Classroom Culture
Model Christlike character, using every opportunity - whether in play, discipline, or care - as a way to point children toward God’s love.
Pray with and over children daily; introduce simple truths of the Christian faith through songs, stories, and habits.
Create a joyful and peaceful classroom atmosphere that reflects the school’s values and affirms the dignity of each child.
-Planning & Routine
Establish a clear, developmentally appropriate daily routine that includes structured play, worship time, snacks, naps, diapering, outdoor time, and free exploration.
Observe children closely and adjust routines as needed to meet their developmental needs.
Once established, submit the finalized daily schedule or routine to the Headmaster for approval and documentation.
-Engagement & Development
Intentionally engage children through songs, simple stories, finger plays, tactile activities, guided movement, and creative play.
Encourage language development, motor skills, early social interaction, and independence.
Provide age-appropriate activities and transitions that keep children engaged, comforted, and growing in confidence.
-Parent Communication
Communicate daily with parents using the school’s documentation form, noting eating/bottle routines, naps, activities, behavior, and any incidents or concerns.
Build trusting relationships with parents through consistency, warmth, and clear communication.
Notify the Headmaster of any health, behavioral, or developmental concerns.
-Classroom Preparation & Cleanliness
Prepare the classroom before each day begins with all needed materials (pack-n-plays, toys, gloves, wipes, etc.).
Sanitize all used toys and surfaces mid-day and at the end of the day using school-approved disinfectants.
After all children have been picked up, reset the classroom to its original condition: clean, orderly, and ready for the next school day.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the school’s mission and daily operations.
Qualifications

Physically able to lift and carry children, stand for extended periods, and respond quickly in an emergency.
