What are the responsibilities and job description for the In-Home Support Specialist (KS) position at Cornerstones of Care?
RESPONSIBILITIES: The In-Home Support Specialist will work as part of the Family Preservation team to provide support services to families who are working with Family Preservation services as well as respite (temporary) caregivers, like a relative or family friend. The Specialist will work with families who have children ranging from age 11-18 and are at risk of entering foster care due to their behaviors. The goal is to keep the family together, safely. Supports provided by the Specialist may include providing household support, babysitting/supervision, acting as another safe adult in the home, providing homework assistance, etc. Support may also be provided in the community in the form of daily routine assistance such as helping with transportation, helping with shopping, or running errands, etc. Each family’s needs will be uniquely assessed and supported and therefore the In-Home Specialist Support work will look different from home to home. The In-Home Support Specialist is trained in Solution-Based Casework®, Behavioral Intervention Support (BIST) and Sanctuary Model® of trauma informed care to better partner with the families they work with and to move them toward positive change. The schedule is flexible but could include some evening and weekend hours.
QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years’ experience in the children and family services field working with children and families. Must be at least 21 years of age and pass background check, physical and drug screening. This position also requires a valid driver’s license and proof of current vehicle insurance.
