What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sports Instructor position at Countryside YMCA?
Position Focus
- Prepare sports fields, courts and other areas for leagues, programs and open play
- Provide assistance with delivering sports programs and leagues to members that emphasize the betterment of each individual’s spirit, mind and body.
- Instruct participants on proper sport specific techniques, skills and training.
- Model and champion the core values of Countryside YMCA - Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Caring and Faith
Competencies
- Previous playing or coaching experience in at least one of the following sports: Baseball, Basketball, Football, Soccer
- Ensure members of all skill levels have a fun and safe environment to participate in sports programming
- Provide positive guidance and feedback to improve player performance while ensuring individuals fully participate and have fun
- Properly demonstrate basic sport-specific skills
Job Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must possess a surface knowledge of a variety of sports
- Ability to work with a variety of ages and abilities; must be able to engage strangers in conversations and make all people feel welcome
- knowledge of current sports trends and techniques
- Current CPR/AED Certifications.
- Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations
- Must work to build genuine relationships with participants
- Effective conflict resolution skills
- Ability to attend all trainings and meetings as required even if scheduled outside normal working or regular scheduled hours.
All part-time staff working a minimum of 16 hours per quarter will receive a complimentary individual membership to the Countryside YMCA! Departments may require more than the 16 hour minimum based upon scheduling and business needs. Please speak to the hiring manager about hours requirements.

Salary : $28,100 - $35,500
