What are the responsibilities and job description for the Refuse Site Caretaker position at County of Tulare?
One vacancy with the Solid Waste Department in Visalia. This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill both current and future vacancies as they occur in other refuse site locations. The anticipated life of the employment list is six months.Inspect or reject refuse material; direct traffic for the safe dumping of refuse; enforce site regulations; clean up debris and maintain grounds; report unusual incidents; perform related duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications are used as a guide for establishing the education, training, experience, special skills and/or license which are required and equivalent to the following.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education/Experience – Requires equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
Knowledge of - Math sufficient to keep time cards.
Skill/Ability to - Read, understand and follow rules and instructions; deal with the public in a friendly and courteous manner when giving directions and answering questions; identify hazardous materials and work safely.
Special Requirements - Working conditions will include outdoor work around garbage and dust in all seasons. The duties assigned will include prolonged standing and walking for most of the day. The regular work schedule for this position includes weekends.
Conditions of Employment
Candidates selected will be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Additionally, a background investigation may also be conducted, which may include a re-investigation every 10 years for some positions. An Employment Eligibility Verification using E-Verify may be required on the first day of employment for some positions. Some job classes may also require a physical exam.
