What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facility Management Intern - Students Only - Facility Management position at County of Volusia?
The County of Volusia is seeking an Intern for the Facility Management Division. This is a temporary (24 hours per week) position located in Daytona Beach, Florida and is responsible for contributing to the update of the County Asset Management Program.

- Review of existing records in Lucity.
- Interview with the Trades Supervisors at Facility Management.
- Review of record drawing and specifications for each building (including renovations).
- Physical viewing of the equipment within each facility to verify equipment data.
- Creation of spreadsheets listing assets and their nameplate data and specifications
- Review of the information gathered with FAC’s project manager.
- Attend work on a regular and consistent basis.
- Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
To be eligible for a County of Volusia internship, the ideal intern must:
- Be enrolled in an accredited college or university as a:
- Full-Time Undergraduate Student (Fall/Spring - 12 Credit Hours; Summer - 6 Credit Hours), or
- Full-Time Graduate Student (Fall/Spring - 9 Credit Hours; Summer - 6 Credit Hours);
- Be currently seeking a degree in an area of study related to the internship position;
- Be able to work four (4) to six (6) hours per day, three (3) times per week, for at least twelve (12) weeks during the assigned internship; and,
- Undergraduates must maintain a 2.8 GPA or higher on a 4.0 grade scale; graduate students must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of hire.
- Ability to interact effectively with others.
- Ability to organize and articulate (orally and in written form) statistical information.
ADA REQUIREMENTS:
Physical Demands: Medium to heavy work. Ability to see, lift (50 lbs), carry, push, pull, handle, climb, crouch/kneel, reach; finger dexterity. Some sedentary work. Visual acuity (Peripheral vision, depth perception, color acuity) necessary to operate a motorized vehicle.
Environmental Demands: General inside and outside work.
Mental Demands: Ability to read and comprehend technical and professional journals and manuals, reports, abstracts, statistical date, legal documents. Ability to perform mathematical functions. Ability to speak publicly. Ability to analyze data and develop conclusions.
