The County of Volusia is seeking a part-time gate closer and park maintenance position for the Parks, Recreation & Culture Division. This position is located at Green Springs Gate in Deltona and is budgeted for 17.5 hours a week or 35 hours per pay. The position is generally scheduled for 2.5 hours a day 7 days a week. The position and will be responsible for securing the park each night by having park users exit the park and locking the park gates and checking all campers are registered to be in the park after regular hours. The position will also include unskilled manual labor to remove refuse and paper from grounds, as well as, cleaning and locking restrooms.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Ability to perform routine unskilled manual work.Ability to read and write English.Ability to follow oral instructions.Ability to work under stressful conditions.Ability to interact effectively with park staff and the general public.ADA REQUIREMENTS: Physical Demands: Able to see, talk, and hear. Visual acuity to operate off road park utility vehicle. Peripheral vision. Able to pull, push, lift, carry 50 pounds (determined by division of assignment), grasp, handle, climb, balance, reach overhead, bend, stoop. Able to traverse uneven, wet or broken terrain. Environmental Demands: Generally outside work. Able to tolerate inclement weather including but not limited to heat, humidity, wind, cold. May require exposure to chemicals, dust, insects, noise, fumes and confined areas. Mental Demands: Able to read and comprehend safety instructions, procedures, memos, and written directions. Able to write simple sentences relaying information.
