Chevron Phillips is currently seeking individuals to join the Manufacturing organization at the Philtex Plant in Borger, TX.
This great opportunity is for individuals interested in completing a 6-week plant specific operations and maintenance program with the opportunity to pursue roles as an Operator, Shipper or Maintenance (Rotating Equipment, Instrumentation and/or Electrical, Lead-off Craft). Work schedules will be dependent on position. These roles receive directions from supervisors and works with other operations and maintenance employees in performing routine plant duties.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Performs general maintenance, repair, and cleanup of plant equipment for safe and efficient operation
- Draws samples of products from the process for laboratory testing
- Maintains plant equipment
- Utilizes piping and structural drawings for installation and Removal of Isolation Devices
- Uses a variety of manual, pneumatic and hydraulic tools including jack hammers, cheaters, spanners, pin and pipe wrenches, and sledgehammers
- Uses fire equipment when necessary
- Operates motorized equipment such as lifting devices, portable scaffolds, forklifts
- Safely operates pumps, fired heater boilers, reactors, distillation columns and other plant equipment
- Monitors the performance of plant equipment and process conditions. Read flow meters, and temperature and pressure gauges. Take routine readings on process variables
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum education of High School diploma/GED
- A current valid driver’s license
- Ability to complete the requirements of the formal operator's training program
- Ability to follow all plant safety guidelines and policies, which include the wearing of fire-retardant clothing
- Ability to wear respiratory protective equipment when the work situation requires it
- Capability to perform essential duties listed above, may involve climbing towers up to 150 feet, lifting heavy objects such as piping, valves and tools, performing a variety of activities involving pulling, pushing, lifting and twisting, working in confined spaces, working from awkward positions, and from elevated platforms
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in construction, shipping, maintenance, or operating jobs within an industrial environment (inclusive of chemical plants, manufacturing plants, refineries, machine shops, commercial construction) or military experience in a mechanical/construction field
- Technical certificates in the fields of Rotating Equipment Craftsman (REC), Instrumentation and Electrical Craftsman (I&E), Welder, and/or Laboratory Technician
- Familiar with piping and structural standards
Testing Requirements:
- Candidates should be able to pass a written pre-employment test and the Console Operator Basic Requirement Assessment (COBRA) prior to being considered for the job
- Candidates will be required to take a physical examination, which includes a drug & alcohol screen, fitness for duty exam and a criminal background check
Work Schedule:
- Dependent on the position, individual will work a rotating 12-hour shift (including weekends, holidays and overtime). The work hours are 6:00 am until 6:00pm or 6:00pm until 6:00am.
- Dependent on the position, individual will work 8-hour shift, 5 days a week (sometimes will include weekends, holidays and overtime). The work hours are 8:00 am until 4:30pm.
