Skills Trainer

Under the supervision of the Team Leader, the primary duty of the Skills Trainer-1 is responsible for helping participants achieve the goals and objectives outlined in Individualized Support Plans (ISP), Behavior Management Guidelines (BMGs), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).

General Responsibilities:

• Ensure the supervision and safety of assigned participants
• Complete high-quality work with minimal errors.
• Follow and be familiar with the guidelines in the Employee Handbook.
• Follow and be familiar with the guidelines in the Parent Handbook.
• Comply with HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.
• Drive program participants and staff in Crossroads Continuum vehicles as needed. (During program hours only)
• Complete the RBT training program within 90 days.
• Start the process of taking the Registered Behavior Technician exam within six months of employment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Direct Care Respnsibilities:

• Aid in daily living activities, including self-care and hygiene, food shopping and preparation, budgeting, leisure activities and social skills.
• Support individuals in accessing the community safely and as independently as possible.
• Create and implement social groups.

Case Management Responsibilities:

• Provide case management up to three clients
• Maintain case clients’s program book per guidelines.
• Update/create case clients’s program book per new ISP within 5 program days of it being signed.
• Update/create materials for case clients as needed
• Update/create curriculum sheets as needed.
• Update/create behavior data sheets as needed.
• Update Behavior Management Guidelines, as assigned by the Program Manager.
• Maintain case clients’ electronic files per guidelines.
• Summarize and enter data daily.
• Monitor program participant’s progress and immediately alert the Team Leader of needed changes.
• Assist the Team Leader in program development and modification.
• Communicate parent concerns immediately to the Team Leader and Program Manager
• Complete end-of-day tidying responsibilities of case clients’ materials and the program rooms.

Communication:

• Follow lines of communication specified in the Organizational Chart.
• Share relevant information with colleagues and supervisors.
• Asks questions when something is unknown or unclear.
• Actively recognize the accomplishments and contributions of others.
• Accept performance feedback gracefully.
• Check and respond to email daily.
• Practices confidentiality and maintain a high standard of ethics.
• Show support for Crossroads Continuum.
• Serve as an ambassador for Crossroads Continuum.

Attendance, Participation, and Timeliness:

• Demonstrate punctuality and an appropriate attendance record.
• Complete timecards according to protocol.
• Meets assigned deadlines with minimal prompts.
• Attend and actively participate in meetings.
• Attend Crossroads Continuum events (e.g., Open House, Annual 5K Walk/Run).

Educational and Experiential Requirements:

• High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in education, behavior analysis, or related field, preferred
• 1-2 years of experience in the field of autism, education, or human services field preferred
• A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation is required.
• Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check including references, CORI, and fingerprinting.

• Interest in building a career in nonprofit service for individuals with developmental disabilities.

• Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to pass a background check

Physical Requirements:

• The ability to move quickly and confidently to intervene when protective holds and/or movements are necessary.
• The ability to pursue a bolting student.
• The ability to successfully complete Safety Care training
• Ability to physically work with the client (may involve running, squatting, lifting, prompting and physical management)
