We install, maintain, and monitor a wide range of integrated building protection systems, including: access control, video surveillance, fire alarms, and burglar alarms. The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for installing and testing electronic security access systems. Our Access System installations include: burglar and fire alarms, CCTV, Access Control systems and all related electronic security equipment. Our technicians are responsible for servicing both commercial and industrial clients. A successful technician will provide excellent customer service to CRV Surveillance’s clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and wire specified alarm system devices.
  • Pull cable and hang devices.
  • Test and verify that all systems and devices installed (alarm panels, sirens, horns, strobes, etc.) function properly and in accordance to manufacturer's specifications.
  • Use multi meter for particular volts and ohm readings and circuit analysis. Use various hand and power tools such as drills and screwdriver for installation purposes.
  • Strip wire without leaving bare openings.
  • Conceal wire in residences and run wire as neat and inconspicuous as possible. Keep company vehicle clean and in good operating (i.e. handle periodic oil changes, fueling, washing of vehicle, etc.).
  • Explain and demonstrate to the customer how the specific alarm system installed works.
  • Complete proper paperwork and submit to the appropriate department on a daily basis.
  • Communicate with clients, co-workers and CRV Surveillance Central Monitoring Station.
  • All other reasonable duties as assigned by the Installation Supervisor specific to the operation of daily business functions.
  • Essential Functions to be performed with or without reasonable accommodations Licenses/Certifications:
  • Must be able to obtain specified licenses/certifications to perform work in the security industry according to the rules and regulations prescribed by the State of Alabama. Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Graduate or GED is required for all CRV Surveillance positions
  • Technical or college degree in related field preferred
  • Three to five years related experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must have knowledge of fire and electrical codes to ensure safe and proper installation of alarm systems and devices.
  • Must have a personable and professional appearance.
  • Must be able to travel, as needed.
  • Must be familiar with various types of receivers.
  • Strong customer service focus/skills are a must.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Must be capable of handling challenging and stressful situations without decreasing productivity.
  • Must have ability to deal effectively with people at all levels of the organization and with external customers.
  • Must have mathematical skills including ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume along with ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Must have reasoning skills including ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment will vary from moderate to loud and will depend upon the type of environment in which the customer is located.
