What are the responsibilities and job description for the IHB Technician 3rd Shift High Performance position at Crystal Finishing Systems?
General Summary:
Mixes and blends paint to customer specifications by using formulas and color computers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Uses a computer program to pull paint formulas for the scheduled customer jobs.
- Determines the correct weights of tints to be added for each job using multiplication formulas.
- Blend paints or tints to be used in batch and weighs each on scale to ensure proper weights were added.
- Agitate paints using hand mixer or drum agitator until completely blended.
- Responsible to make a sample by spraying a chip with the mixed paint, curing it, and analyzing the end result in comparison to the color standard using color computer and visual inspection. If deviations are found, obtain a batch correction using the color computer.
- Removes paint and tints from Paint Vault to use for color creating and returns them to their designated storage areas when finished. These containers can be quart, gallon, or 55-barrel containers.
- Routinely cleans Paint Vault with MEK solution and ensures proper inventory locations for paints and tints are maintained.
- Responsible to obtain work instructions from the IHB Lead.
- Transfer paint to inventory and complete appropriate paperwork.
- Can locate, read, comprehend and execute proper work instructions.
- Operates equipment including, but not limited to paint guns, hand mixer, air ratchet, and drum dolly as necessary.
- Ensures IHB lab is accessible and safe for employee and customer traffic by maintaining a clean work area at all times.
- Establishes efficient work flow based on product and task.
- Efficiently uses painting tinting materials and other supplies and notifies the correct person when supplies run low.
- Properly wears required Personal Protective Equipment.
Desired Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) required.
- Previous computer experience preferred.
- Knowledge of liquid painting processes preferred.
- Previous experience with small hand tools is beneficial.
- Must have good attention to detail in order to visually identify minute color variations.
- Ability to be self directed and work in a team or independently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
