TITLE: Assistant Production Manager

SUMMARY: The Assistant Production Manager assists plant management with planning and executing production schedules to meet customer demand; hire, train and manage production employees and responsible for ensuring quality, safety and procedural standards are maintained. This position will report to Plant Operations Leadership.
EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrable experience identifying errors such as improper procedures, scaling, hygiene, sanitation, safety.
- Experience as a chef with a restaurant, restaurant chain or other large-scale retail food preparation environment a plus.
- Food manager certification required.
- Sous vide method certification preferred.
- Direct experience training, explaining, and answering questions regarding recipes, proper procedures and measurement techniques to employees.
- Must be able to identify errors such as improper procedures, scaling, hygiene, sanitation, safety.
- Provide feedback to employee and provide ongoing coaching to ensure that corrections have been made.
- Attention to details is critical
- Experience using production computer system and excel preferred.
- Requires ability to communicate in English fluently - reading. writing and verbally.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred.
- Must have excellent listening skills.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must have experience successfully developing and delivering training for new and existing employees.
- Must have experience providing regular feedback and coaching.
- Interacts with other employees within the company. Occasionally communicates with external vendors, delivery personnel or customers.
- Requires the ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Must be able to independently project labor needs to meet customer demands.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in food science, business or related field or related work experience plus 5 years of experience in culinary/food manufacturing environment including at least 2 years as a supervisor.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with production management to meet production requirements in order to meet customer demand and minimize labor expenses.
- Review production schedule, complete work orders and enter changes into ERP system; complete productivity and other reports and update information in system and generate reports as necessary.
- Reviews, daily and weekly schedule and work with production management to make adjustments as necessary and communicate changes to internal customers as needed.
- Collaborate with production management to identify staffing needs based on scheduling demands.
- Ensures new employees receive all necessary training to properly perform tasks.
- Works with Supervisors to provide regular feedback to line employees regarding their performance, recognizing excellence and areas needing improvement. Provides coaching to those who need additional help to improve performance.
- Ensure compliance to all company policies, procedures, food safety requirements, and safety standards.
- Report quality problems to Quality Assurance management.
- Responds in a timely manner to production problems such as equipment failures, recipe questions, or non-compliance with approved quality standards.
