What are the responsibilities and job description for the Income Maintenance Caseworker III - Leadworker position at Cumberland County?
In addition, other duties assigned to this position may include, but are not limited to: Assisting Income Maintenance Supervisors with the day-to-day operations of teams; completing second party reviews of all actions completed by new employees and random sampling of all other team members; providing feedback to supervisors; compiling report information and unit statistical date, unit coverage and responsibility for ensuring customer flow in the absence of supervisor, caseload coverage during caseworker extended leave from duty, assisting in the preparation for and serve as agency representation at local and state hearings; assisting in the development and training of department policy, and providing training for agency and state policy for all benefit programs.
The worker in this position must be very flexible and have the ability to implement policies and procedures for all programs quickly and accurately. Ability to work under pressure is also essential. Good time management skills and organizational skills are necessary, as the worker must be able to meet deadlines and guide staff in meeting deadlines for all types of actions for the reviews, desk changes, as well as applications. The ability to compute varied and very complex budgeting situations is also necessary.
As a resource person, the worker in this position will be required to frequently research, and answer eligibility questions, interpret policy for unusual case situations; assist with difficult or irate customers; exercise prudent judgment in decision making, and recognize when situations should be referred to supervisors for disposition or resolution.
This worker must respond to disasters as needed in accordance with The Cumberland County DSS policy, in the event of a natural or man-made disaster or upon the declaration of a state of emergency by the Cumberland County Emergency Management Office.
The worker in this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor when deemed necessary.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Two (2) years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university and related customer service experience and two (2) years of Income Maintenance Caseworker experience OR two (2) years of Income Maintenance Caseworker experience with a NC DSS agency.KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Considerable knowledge of the program/areas of assignment. General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations and procedures. Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations and procedures. Ability to instruct and to evaluate the work of lower level employees. Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.
