IN-SCHOOL SUSPENSION AIDE

JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Supervise students assigned to in-school suspension (ISS) for disciplinary reasons. Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment. Work under the general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of a certified teacher daily.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with certified teachers and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured classroom environment.
• Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teachers.
• Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.
• Distribute, collect, and check student assignments for accuracy.
• Maintain individual files of completed student assignments and return them to classroom teachers.
• Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies,administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP).
• Monitor hallways during classroom exchange and as needed or directed by administration.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or GED
• De-escalation training and or strategies
• Experience working with students, preferably with students between 10-18 years old
• Skills to operate standard office equipment, including the use of basic computer application
• Use English in both written and verbal form; use correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation
• Effective communication skills and ability to work with confidential material
• Ability to meet with the public, provide information, and deal with complaints in a professional and helpful manner
• Ability to organize and complete tasks independently
• Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations near visual acuity/visual accommodation.
• Satisfactory completion of criminal background check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
