What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Davis- Standard?
Davis-Standard is a global leader in the design, development and distribution of extrusion and converting technology. Our systems encompass over 11 product lines to support manufacturing applications and customers in a wide variety of industries, including automotive, building & construction, consumer products, medical, and packaging.
Davis-Standard has an immediate opening in the Fulton, New York location for a Buyer.
Duties require, but are not limited to the following:
- Ensures all items with demand have required information in ERP
- Issues purchase orders to suppliers, ensures supplier commitments are provided in a timely manner and supplier capacity constraints are addressed
- Works with Engineering and Commodity Managers to support Product Development Process, Product Release Process and cost reduction / part standardization initiatives
- Negotiate cost savings with new and incumbent suppliers
- Assists Expeditors and Manufacturing to resolve supplier issues that will impact customer deliveries
- Participates in target costing reviews for new products
- Utilizes contracts, cost models and/or price calculators to ensure pricing for parts are accurate
- Obtains quotes for items without cost models from approved suppliers
- Manages and implement engineering changes
- Ensures Confidentiality Agreements are executed with all suppliers
- Assists Expeditors with expediting, as necessary
- Assists with strategic sourcing projects as required
Experience
Preferred- 1 - 3 years: Purchasing/procurement experience preferred
