WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Follow the established procedures to ensure knowledgeable, correct and efficient order taking
- Set up orders on trays and tables and transport them to guest floors and rooms
- Serve any dishes to guests while explaining the contents and preparation
- Ascertain a guest’s satisfaction and handle any problem which may arise by informing a manager of the problem and how it was resolved
- Serve and clear food and beverage items in an unobtrusive and professional manner
- Remove trays and tables from guest rooms
- Maintain a Room Service control sheet
- Set up the lobby coffee service
- Anticipate and service guests’ needs
- Greet each guest promptly, courteously, graciously with eye contact, a smile and good posture
- Be familiar with the menus, including preparation, ingredients and description
- Be familiar with the wine list and wine and beverage service including stemware used
- Complete opening and closing side work as assigned
- Provide confident and educated advice on menu options as well as food and beverage pairings
- Recognize and address potential intoxicated, disruptive or undesirable guests
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times to reflect the hotel standards
- Demonstrate a high degree of drive and determination
- Keep the work area clean and tidy at all times
- Assist with responsibilities and duties in other departments and as assigned by management
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel
- Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language
- Good wine and food knowledge
- Ability to work well unsupervised
- Basic computer and/or POS skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Continuous standing and walking
- Negotiating wet tile floor and steps
- Fine motor coordination is needed to pour beverages, decorate cocktails and folding napkins
- Hand and elbow movements for polishing glassware, silver, setting up tables, pouring and mixing drinks
- Ability to carry trays weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to push/pull carts up to 100 lbs. on a continuous basis
- Carrying over the shoulder occasionally
