- Maintain mechanical equipment through repair, preventative maintenance and installation functions.
- Maintain work records.
- Broaden the depth of knowledge of the department by willingly sharing skills

- Perform maintenance of grounds, such as clearing walks and roadways of snow and debris, operate snow removal equipment.
- Perform security responsibilities
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Current State of Connecticut Heating, Piping & Cooling operating engineer Journey Person (OE-2) PREFERRED.
- Vocational apprentice and/or in Plant experience a minimum of 5 years.
- Work from written and verbal instructions, various layouts, blueprints, sketches and diagrams.
- Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and special purpose equipment and materials.
- React quickly to emergency situations and take appropriate action.
- Understand and use scientific and technical language and symbols.
- Follow technical instructions which may be oral, written, or in charts or drawings.
- Use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgements.
- Ability to apply continuous mental and visual attention required on mechanical duties when constant alertness is required.
- Able to assist in moving and installing machinery, heavy furniture, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and hand trucks.
- Moderate physical effort consisting of frequent (1/3 to 2/3) lifting or moving average ( or = 80 lbs) weight materials (1/3).
- To be fully mobile on steps and ladders.
- Work from a crouched or bent‑over position and have sufficient dexterity of both arms to safely operate power tools, valves, etc.
