Job Summary

This position is located in the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), Transportation Planning Administration (TPA). The incumbent is responsible for assisting in multimodal transportation planning and project development, including bicycle, pedestrian, transit, freight, and general-purpose traffic in alignment with the District’s long-term transportation plan (moveDC) and other related plans and policies.

The incumbent works closely with other Transportation Planners, engineers, and project managers to guide projects from inception to completion, ensuring the delivery of high-quality street designs that achieve project objectives.

Duties And Responsibilities

Contributes to multi-modal (bicycle, pedestrian, transit, roadway) transportation systems planning and curbside management operations planning, including data collection, analysis, and technical reporting. Performs research, studies, administrative and technical activities necessary to achieve planning project or program objectives. Attends a variety of meetings, conferences and seminars relative to ulti-modal transportation planning and curbside planning.

Coordinates parking supply and demand policies and programs with numerous internal stakeholders and external partners, including other divisions within DDOT as well as the Office of Planning and other District Government agencies, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, Business Improvement Districts, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), and the other groups to seek their commitment to implement parking demand management policies and programs. Promotes multi-modal mobility, curbside management and safety.

Qualifications And Education

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position.

Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

Licenses and Certifications

Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Work is primarily conducted in an office setting.

Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not a part of a collective bargaining unit.

Position Designation: This position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability - Security Sensitive. Accordingly, the incumbent will be subject to pre-employment checks (criminal background checks, consumer credit check, traffic record checks, if applicable) as a condition of employment, and will be subject to periodic criminal background checks for the duration of your tenure.

Essential or Emergency Designation: This position is classified as an essential/emergency position under the provisions of the District Personnel Manual Chapter 12. As such, the incumbent is required to serve in emergency situations to perform critical duties, i.e., snow removal, debris removal, transportation, shelter, operations, food distribution, and communications. These duties may be performed when the government is closed or when employees are dismissed early.
