Journeyman Network and Computer Systems Administrator

Overview

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking a Journeyman Network and Computer Systems Administrator to join our team on an upcoming contract to support the Unites States Coast Guard USCG) Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) Information Systems Division (ISD) in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The USCG ALC ISD provides development, security, and operations (DevSecOps) IT support for products and services for the Coast Guard Information Officer (CIO), Commandant, and Coast Guard Cyber Command through a geo-dispersed workforce including military, civilians, an contractor personnel committed to supporting the USCG's missions and requirements of the leading growing interconnectivity, increased reliance on data and networks, and development of commercial space and artificial intelligence systems.

Position is on-site with off-site capabilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the Journeyman Network and Computer Systems Administrator include:

• Install, configure, and support an organization's Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), and Internet systems or a segment of a network system.
• Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.
• May monitor and test Web site performance to ensure Web sites operate correctly and without interruption.
• May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.
• May supervise computer user support specialists and computer network support specialists.
• May administer network security measures.
• Performs a variety of network engineering tasks which are broad in nature and are concerned with the design and implementation of integrated networks, including personal, hardware, software and support facilities and/or equipment.
• Installs; configures and maintains software in a client/server networked environment.
• Installs LANs as well as WANs. Selects, orders, and installs equipment at Customer field sites. This activity includes the installation of infrastructure and equipment, operating systems, and user software, as well as maintenance and exercise support.
• Installs infrastructures including routers, hubs, and interconnections.
• Use network management tools to discover, map, and maintain the network.
• Assists in providing technical documentation to support installation activities.
• Assists with Customer on-site surveys.
• Participates in the preparation of drawings and reports documenting and recording on-site activities. Interfaces with customers, end users and team members for site activities as directed.
• Performs systems checkout/test and introductory training as required.
• Perform trips to customer sites for installations, surveys, and audits.
• A working knowledge is desirable in various software systems and architectures, communications protocols: and network hardware devices.
• Create and maintain detailed system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and change management logs.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance required.
• Bachelor's or associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Math, or related field or at minimum IT Certification.
  • Note: Two (2) years' experience is equivalent to one (1) year of education.
• Two (2) years' experience in system administration for network protocol.
• Two (2) years of performing security remediation to systems with vulnerabilities based on security scans.
• Two (2) years of experience designing, analyzing, evaluating, configuring, troubleshooting, and implementing network solutions.
• One (1) year of experience in Agile DevSecOps software and engineering environment and Methodologies.
• One (1) year of experience Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket or equivalent.
