The Role
The role is based in Michigan City, Indiana. The Indiana Product Company serves the Industrial Vacuum Division of the Vacuum Technique Business Area of the Atlas Copco Group. A key responsibility of the Electrical Engineer is for developing and detailing core electrical components and assemblies for vacuum pump systems.
Main Responsibilities :
- Work with mechanical engineers and internal customers to develop electronic controls and power systems for integrated vacuum systems.
- Design electrical systems for assigned projects including developing the appropriate AutoCAD drawings.
- Ability to program and Configure PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs a plus
- Responsible for the detailed documentation of the design (drawings, design data, Bill of Materials, test data) in ERP and CAD systems. Ensuring all relevant information is recorded and updated in a timely manner maintained in the technical construction file.
- Ensure that the electronic systems meet all applicable government, industry, and customer requirements.
- Work with production and field service personnel to assist with the application, analysis, planning and potential debugging of different vacuum systems.
- Knowledge of cloud integration and other industrial communications protocols (like, but not limited to, Profibus/Profinet/Modbus/RS485/...) is a plus.

What we expect of you?
Skills / Knowledge / Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or equivalent field of related experience.
- Three years of related experience is preferred
- Proficient in AutoCAD or similar drafting software
- Familiar with National Electric Code, NFPA79, and a solid understanding and experience of UL practices to conform to UL 508A standards. International standards are a plus.
- Ability to produce a design package containing an electric schematic, subpanel arrangement, and enclosure assembly.
- Experience with motors, drives, and PLCs preferred
- Understanding of Industry 4.0 and connectivity trends in the industry a plus
- Experience working with 3-phase circuits and control panels
- Ability to effectively interface with vendors, and customers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Full Microsoft Office proficiency
- May require limited travel.
