ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Supervise conduct within the school, and oversee disciplinary procedures, keeping records of any disciplinary action.
- Work with the Principal in the preparation of the student handbook.
- Propose schedules of classes and extracurricular activities.
- Give individual and group guidance for personal problems, educational and vocational objectives, and social and recreational activities.
- Supervise the preparation of student schedules.
- Cooperate in the conducting of safety inspections and safety fire drill activities.
- Supervise the reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with the attendance supervisor for investigative follow-up action.
- Serve with parent, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.
- Monitor and confirm safety and security in the building and property.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Massachusetts State Department of Educational Principal / Assistant Principal Licensure.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from parents, regulatory agencies, or members of the community.
- Ability to write reports, speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or School Committee.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to use data as tools to identify barriers to success, and design strategies for improvement.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking of a wide range of intellectual and practical situations.
- Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, graphs, etc.).
- Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
- Proficient with personal computers and relevant software such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications.
