ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Serve as the chairperson of the evaluation TEAM.
- Plan all IEP meetings including initial evaluations, annual reviews and 3 year re-evaluations.
- Ensure that IEP TEAM completes all sections of the IEP with fidelity.
- Review completed IEP, update Esped, send all documentation to parents/guardians.
- Be familiar with all sub-separate programs and their students within the school
- Complete all necessary DESE Indicator reports
- Follow timelines with fidelity.
- Assist in diagnosis and placement of students suspected of having special educational needs.
- Attend case conferences on needs and placement of individual special needs students.
- Be responsible, in conjunction with the school staff, for reporting to parents.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and the community, or private agencies that provide special services for children.
- Serve as a crisis person in matters needing immediate attention.
- Assist with providing in-service training for the school staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a Master's in Special Education
- Licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary education as a Special Education Teacher
- Knowledge of laws relating to children
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
