Team Chair - Special Education - Part Time

COMPENSATION: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement located on the DY website.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Serve as the chairperson of the evaluation TEAM.
• Plan all IEP meetings including initial evaluations, annual reviews and 3 year re-evaluations.
• Ensure that IEP TEAM completes all sections of the IEP with fidelity.
• Review completed IEP, update Esped, send all documentation to parents/guardians.
• Be familiar with all sub-separate programs and their students within the school
• Complete all necessary DESE Indicator reports
• Follow timelines with fidelity.
• Assist in diagnosis and placement of students suspected of having special educational needs.
• Attend case conferences on needs and placement of individual special needs students.
• Be responsible, in conjunction with the school staff, for reporting to parents.
• Serve as a liaison between the school and the community, or private agencies that provide special services for children.
• Serve as a crisis person in matters needing immediate attention.
• Assist with providing in-service training for the school staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of a Master's in Special Education
• Licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary education as a Special Education Teacher
• Knowledge of laws relating to children
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
