A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A MECHANICAL ENGINEER AT DWT
The Mechanical Engineer reviews and understands customer requirements, developing technically sound design solutions within program schedule milestones for new products, including concept development, component design, design verification, scheduling, product costing, and reporting (project responsibility for mechanical parts and assemblies). You will create Bill of Materials and create, review and approve tolerance analysis studies. At times, performing sustaining engineering for production parts and assemblies, evaluating and approving parts from new tooling may be required. To ensure engineering excellence, you will be tasked with conducting failure analysis to resolve engineering problems of difficult or complex scope. Proactive participation and collaboration in cross functional teams is needed to achieve optimum outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or higher degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or a closely related field
- 5 years work experience in a mechanical engineering role, experience with military products and/or DOD a plus
- Strong experience with Solidworks
- Experience with Analysis, Design Skills, Manufacturing Methods and Standard Practices, Process Improvement, Documentation Skills, Safe Work Practices, Tooling, Materials and Equipment
- Experience working with suppliers
- Hands on experience in prototyping / modifying existing parts to demonstrate feasibility
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skill
