What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Janitor position at Developmental Preschool and Day Care Center?
I) INTRODUCTION:
Under the general supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator, performs general janitorial duties in child care facility.
II) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Perform janitorial tasks to ensure the building is kept clean and sanitary.
2) Duties include daily trash removal, cleaning of bathrooms, vacuuming/cleaning floors, and other duties as needed in multiple facilities.
3) At least weekly deep cleaning of bathrooms, trash cans, diapering areas and kitchen.
4) At least weekly cleaning of Early Intervention offices to include (but not limited to) bathrooms, floors, kitchen area, trash removal, etc.
5) Deep cleaning and disinfecting of all surfaces as designated.
6) Utilize cleaning equipment in safe manner to prevent damage to equipment and facility.
7) Notify Facilities Coordinator of necessary repairs and issues that could be hazardous.
8) Snow removal as needed during winter months, and appropriate salting/sanding of ice to minimize fall risk.
9) Summer landscaping assistance as needed to include lawn care, tree care, and regular clean-up of trash.
10) Other duties as required.
III) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED. Clean motor vehicle record and background check required. Janitorial experience preferred. Willingness and ability to work around young children.
IV) ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Must be able to operate equipment typical in maintenance and janitorial settings, including floor cleaning equipment, power and hand tools, lawn mowers, weed eaters, etc. Ability to repair minor facility issues indoors and outdoors. Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and speaking with a variety of audiences including other staff, parents, professionals and community members. Must understand the federal and state statues and interpret rules and procedures. Should be organized and be able to work independently. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 50 pounds, and be agile in bending, walking, other positions necessary for performance of the job. Willingness and ability to travel in own or business vehicle throughout community.
