Commercial Traveling Superintendent
Location: Western United States (Primary regions include CA, AZ, NV, CO, UT, TX, NM)
Position Type: Full-Time | Traveling
Salary: $100,000 – $130,000 base (commensurate with experience) per diem, travel, and benefits
Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Traveling Superintendent to lead ground-up multifamily construction projects, with a strong emphasis on Affordable Housing and Senior Living developments. This role requires a hands-on field leader who thrives in a traveling environment and has a proven ability to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget across multiple western U.S. markets.
The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of multifamily construction, strong leadership skills, and experience managing complex projects from site mobilization through turnover.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all on-site construction activities for ground-up multifamily projects
- Oversee Affordable Housing and Senior Living developments from start to finish
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and field staff
- Enforce project schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols
- Conduct daily site walks and weekly progress meetings
- Review plans, specifications, and scopes to ensure accurate execution
- Maintain compliance with local codes, AHJ requirements, and HUD/LIHTC standards (when applicable)
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Owners, and Design Teams
- Manage inspections, punch lists, and project closeout
- Travel extensively between project sites as required
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience as a Superintendent on ground-up multifamily construction projects
- Demonstrated experience with Affordable Housing and/or Senior Living developments
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction means, methods, and sequencing
- Proven leadership and subcontractor management experience
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and schedules
- OSHA 30 (preferred)
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the western U.S., including Texas and New Mexico
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience working on LIHTC, HUD, or other regulated housing projects
- Experience managing multiple phases or large-scale multifamily communities
- Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.)
