Position Summary:

The 3rd shift(overnight) Production Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation of the printers to assure personal safety while meeting the needs of the company and customer as it pertains to quality, cost, timely deliveries, and general production efficiencies.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develops and continues to build on knowledge of the printers and related ancillary equipment.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant Safety/Quality/GMP requirements.
  • Ensures quality checks and audits are done consistently and recorded.
  • Ensures all Print Operator and Print Assistant paperwork is filled out to completion with good record keeping.
  • Maintains accurate scrap and productivity documentation.
  • Achieves defined production goals.
  • Ensures job completions are recorded in NetSuite and audits counts to ensure they match with finished good inventory, correcting any issues as necessary.
  • Ensures can stock is issued in NetSuite as consumed.
  • Keeps work area and supplies in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Controls waste, spoilage, and printing errors.
  • Communicates with warehousemen to ensure raw materials are staged by each printer for the shift.
  • Communicates mistakes, staffing/personnel issues, safety accidents, machine efficiency and downtime issues to Plant Manager.
  • Provides direction, training, and development plans to Print Assistants, Print Operators and Warehousemen on printer and ancillary equipment.
  • Effectively communicates any issues encountered to next shift Production Supervisor during shift handoff.
  • Ensures shift end procedures are completed at handoff and checks out team at shift end.
  • Advises next shift Production Supervisor of any potential problems relating to jobs and work area.
  • Inputs all maintenance and efficiency issues into a Microsoft Excel utilizing basic math and formulas in spreadsheet.
  • Completes shift start up and closing checklists to required specifications.
  • Plans printer assignments based on staffing situations.
  • Efficiently sets up and operates printers when short staffed to required specifications.
  • Reviews and audits quality of products prior to close of work order.
  • Maintains forklift certification and operates equipment as necessary.
  • Creates and updates strategic and tactical goal plan.
  • Completes monthly KPI report of their shift.
  • Signs off on employee timecards and answers questions of daily timekeeping issues.
  • Approves PTO for employees and schedules employees accordingly.
  • Ensures job samples are stored to required specifications.
  • Helps mentor and train Assistant Production Supervisors on communication, leadership expectations, time management and auditing procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

  • This job operates in a manufacturing environment that may require the use of company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • While in the production environment, one might experience different aromas, warmer or cooler than average temperatures, elevated noise levels, lighting differences and other conditions typical of a manufacturing facility.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reaching with hands and arms; stooping, kneeling, or crouching; and occasional lifting/pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs. Job may involve regular use of hearing protection, working with inks, use of degreasers, ethanol, solvents, and other lubricants;

  • Highly mobile, able to access all areas of the premises;
  • Ability to concentrate and remain focused while handling multiple tasks, responsibilities, and projects;
  • Use of close vision and fine motor skills to detect quality issues;
  • Work with moving mechanical parts with potential pinch points, cuts, and crush points.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position for 3rd shift. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel may be required, up to 5%.

Required Education and Experience

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years as a Production Supervisor

or

  • Education: Industrial Technology/ Engineering degree
  • 1-2 years as a Production Supervisor
