Key Responsibilities
- Oversee completion and accuracy of all daily jobs, including prep work for both interior and exterior tasks.
- Conduct and document quality inspections with physical signatures or initials on inspected products.
- Ensure all preventive maintenance (PM) on shop equipment is performed and logged; immediately report equipment failures to the Production Manager.
- Accept completed work orders on an hourly basis and input them into the Work Order Center.
- Maintain accurate and necessary inventory adjustments.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with shop employees.
- Input time records for temporary employees daily.
- Manage PTO requests and ensure proper coverage of essential functions during absences.
- Administer disciplinary actions in compliance with union contracts, with prior approval from the Production Manager and documentation submitted to the Operations and General Managers.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas; oversee daily cleaning, dust collection system maintenance, and timely trash disposal.
- Ensure all overtime is pre-approved and scheduled appropriately.
- Report all employee absences to management via email by 8:00 AM daily.
- Monitor and support employee training to uphold production quality standards.
- Use P-card exclusively for authorized shop-related purchases; all other purchases require prior email approval from management.
- Maintain an inventory of critical replacement parts in a secure storage area to minimize downtime.
- Enforce scheduled break times and adherence to break schedules.
- Spend approximately 75% of work time on the shop floor to ensure safety, optimize production, and manage daily operations.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a production or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of safety, quality control, and maintenance procedures.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead teams, enforce policies, and drive productivity on the shop floor.
- Experience with inventory systems, time tracking, and work order entry preferred.
