What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Paraprofessional position at Discovery Woods?
Must respect and enjoy children. Have a high energy level for active supervision and be self motivated. The EA will assist and carry out the goals, objectives and adaptations in the individual education plan of special needs students in various settings; classrooms, physical education, lunchroom, cafeteria and common spaces. Provide specialized instruction/interventions/accommodations as outlined in the IEP. Team with the classroom teacher and/or special education teacher to deliver classroom instruction. Demonstrate and model appropriate developmental and behavioral skills through play or interaction with the child. Monitor classroom instruction for purpose of ensuring student progress and a safe learning environment. Sporadic after care duty. Hours would be approximately 7:30am to 3:15pm. Job is during school calendar, September through May/early June. Summer hours possible.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
