Our client, a respected national nonprofit and membership association, is seeking a Staff Accountant to support daily financial operations, with a primary focus on accounts receivable, accounts payable, and month-end reconciliations. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to contribute to a mission-driven organization while building hands-on experience in core accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and record incoming payments, including checks, credit card transactions, and ACH transfers.
- Code and apply payments accurately to member and customer accounts; research and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Generate and maintain aging reports; assist with collections and chapter-related member dues processing.
- Review and process vendor invoices, check requests, and employee expense reports in accordance with internal policies.
- Reconcile monthly corporate credit card activity and prepare related journal entries.
- Support monthly close activities by preparing reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and assisting with other closing procedures.
- Assist with chapter and customer inquiries related to billing, payments, and accounts.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate processing and recordkeeping of financial transactions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role, preferably within a nonprofit or membership-based organization.
- Familiarity with accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reconciliation processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with financial software (experience with Sage Intacct is a plus).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with a high attention to detail.
- Clear and professional communication skills, especially when interacting with members or internal teams.
Work Environment:

Salary : $55,000 - $85,000
