What are the responsibilities and job description for the Detention Officer position at Dougherty County?
The Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office/Jail Division is hiring on a continuous basis for Detention Officers/Jailers. Employee in this position is responsible for, but not limited to: providing complete security throughout the Jail facility and performing duties in the assigned area of responsibility by enforcing local, state, and federal laws.For this position, applicant must:
1. Be at least 18 years of age;
2. Be a United States citizen;
3. Be a High School graduate or equivalent;
4. Be a Certified Jailer or eligible for Jailer Certification status in accordance with Georgia State Standards;
5. Be able to pass:
a. Credibility assessment test;
b. Medical examination.
6. Provide Compass/Asset scores from Technical College or University;
7. Possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license; and,
8. Submit copies of the following documents to the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office/Jail at time of application:
a. Birth Certificate;
b. Social Security Card;
c. High School Diploma or equivalent;
d. Valid Georgia Driver’s License; and,
e. DD 214 Military Discharge (if applicable).
