This position performs skilled preventative maintenance on a wide variety of automotive, construction and maintenance equipment. Work is performed either in main fleet service facilities or through mobile servicing truck.

- Independently perform preventative maintenance on a wide variety of equipment and attachments, which include gasoline, diesel, hydraulic, electrical and air-powered machinery. Maintenance performed includes inspection of equipment condition; regularly checking and changing all fluids; regularly checking brakes, battery lights, tire pressure, etc Operate and test drive equipment before notifying fleet coordinator work completed.
- Determine parts and materials needed for servicing and repairs. Request and pick up parts from fleet services parts section. Complete appropriate records.
- Maintain adequate inventory of maintenance and lubrication materials and supplies.
- Create work orders on equipment and maintain accurate records using automated system utilizing proper task codes. Accurately record comments regarding work or condition of equipment. Research equipment files to determine prior maintenance and repair history.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area. Inspect, maintain and repair tools and machinery as necessary. Operate in a safe and efficient manner, various hand, air and specialty tools, machinery, equipment and personal protection equipment. Assist in building, grounds or facility maintenance, including locking and unlocking facilities as needed.
- Provide courier or errand service to transport customers, vehicles and parts. Assist technicians and service personnel by performing semi-skilled tasks.

- Two years work experience in the service, maintenance and fueling of equipment which includes basic operations and minor mechanical and electrical repair to gasoline, diesel, hydraulic, electrical and air powered equipment and attachments.
- At time of appointment, must possess valid Oregon drivers license
- Regular and consistant attendance
While not part of initial applicant screening, the finalist for this position may be required to pass a criminal history background check as part of a contingent offer of employment.
Employment is contingent upon a pre-employment drug screen. Presence of non-prescribed drugs, including marijuana, on drug screen results will result in disqualification pursuant to the County's drug and alcohol policy. To determine if physically qualified to perform the essential functions, employment offer is conditional upon satisfactory results of a post-offer medical and hearing exam conducted at county expense.
Driving Record: A current copy of your Court Print Driving Record must be attached to your application in order to be considered for this position. A Court Print Driving Record is obtained from the DMV and may take 5 - 7 days for delivery, longer for out-of-state. Finalist(s) for this position will be made an offer of employment, contingent upon review and approval of driving record. An unacceptable driving record for employment is defined in the Douglas County Driver Policy Standard Operation of Vehicles #5.
