Job Title: Part-Time IT Support Specialist
Location: Dr. Kiran C. Patel High School (with support at Patel Elementary as needed)
Hours: Part-Time (20 hours/week), 12 month position
Reports to: Director of IT
Position Overview: The Part-Time IT Support Specialist will assist with maintaining and supporting the school’s growing inventory of technology devices and infrastructure across two campuses. This role will focus primarily on providing daily support at the elementary campus but will also collaborate with the Director of IT to ensure consistent service across the organization. This position is ideal for a tech-savvy individual looking to gain experience in educational IT or contribute in a flexible capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily onsite support at Patel Elementary for devices, systems, and user needs
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with laptops, Chromebooks, projectors, printers, and interactive panels
- Perform routine maintenance, updates, and repairs on student and staff devices
- Assist with inventory tracking and organization of technology assets
- Support classroom AV needs, including projector and bulb replacement
- Update and maintain user accounts, access permissions, and email lists
- Monitor software systems such as Clever, Canvas, and Cisco Umbrella
- Assist with preparation tasks before the start of the school year (device collection, configuration, account setup, etc.)
- Serve as backup support to the Director of IT during outages or high-volume periods
- Provide basic training or technical guidance to staff when needed
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A , Google IT Support) are a plus
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and troubleshooting methods
- Comfortable working with both Windows and ChromeOS environments
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and document work
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a school or educational setting
- Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Office, and educational platforms
- Ability to lift and move equipment as needed
Work Environment:This role involves both desk-based and hands-on work across classrooms, offices, and network areas. The position may require bending, climbing ladders (for projectors), and lifting equipment up to 40 lbs.
