Duties
- Coordinate and process referrals for patients for in-house procedures and surgical facilities
- Obtain necessary authorizations and ensure all required documentation are completed
- Communicate with patients, providers, and insurance companies regarding referral status and requirements
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date referral records in electronic health record systems
- Schedule or reschedule appointments and follow-up visits per referral process
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure seamless coordination of care
- Provide excellent patient experience
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree preferred
- Previous experience working as a medical referral coordinator
- Knowledge of medical coding, medical terminology, and managed care processes
- Familiarity with ICD-10 coding systems
- Strong organizational skills, time management and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
