Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in managing surgical schedules, coordinating patient care, and ensuring compliance with medical regulations. This position requires strong organizational skills, proficiency in medical terminology, and the ability to effectively communicate with patients and healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate surgical schedules and ensure timely communication with patients regarding their procedures.
- Manage patient intake processes, including insurance verification and documentation review.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and others for patient management.
- Assist in the preparation of care plans and facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers.
- Provide administrative support including clerical tasks, filing, typing, and managing multi-line phone systems.
- Ensure proper coding for medical billing using CPT coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10 standards.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to enhance patient service and streamline office operations.
- Maintain a professional front desk presence while providing excellent customer service to patients.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical coding, billing practices, and insurance processes is essential.
- Proficient in using EHR systems; experience with Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks is a plus.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and health information management practices.
