Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (x-rays) of body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by Radiologist, by performing the following duties.
The Journeys and Adventures that Await
- Positions patient on examining table and adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum view of specific areas of body requested by physician
- Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation
- Moves x-ray equipment into specified positions and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance
- Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff
- Obtain patient's pertinent history
- Maintains crash cart
- Maintain and stock inventory
- Maintain OSHA regulations
- Performs Dexa scans where trained
- Performs other projects and duties as related to department objective
- Must be able to get along with others, to be a team player, to accept constructive criticism from your supervisor and be able to follow work rules
- Report to lead technologist for work assignments
- Will assist with film quality control. Required to work evening and holidays with responsibility for the operation of the department
- Assists and relieve manager expediting the patient work flow through the department
The Experiences You Bring
- A minimum of an associate's degree in Radiology is required from an accredited institution.
- Must be ARRT registered or eligible to sit for the ARRT certification exam.
- Must be licensed with the State of Illinois in X-ray to perform X-ray procedures.
- CPR certification.
- 6 months to 2 years related experience preferred.
