Ears and Hearing, PA is looking for part-time infant hearing screeners.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Newborn Hearing Technician to work on a PART-TIME basis. In this position, you will work on-site performing state-mandated hearing screens on newborns. Positions are based in a busy Newborn Nursery and/or NICU hospital setting. This part-time position will enable the right person to work up to 20 hours per week from 8:00 AM to 1:00 pm (or later) on the days they're assigned to work. Our program operates 7 days a week 365 days a year. Schedules will be determined a month in advance and will include weekends and holidays.

The Newborn Hearing Technician performs hearing screens, provides education to parents about the relevance of hearing screening and early intervention and records patient information and hearing screen results.

We can not stress enough that this position is what the screener makes it! If you are a motivated, self-starter we encourage you to apply. THE POSITION PAYS PER SCREEN!! It can take up to 30 minutes to complete a screen.

This position is a leisurely part-time position but can work to supplement income with other part-time jobs. Retirees, stay-at-home parents, and college students are encouraged to apply! Evening shift workers looking to supplement their income are encouraged to apply!

Qualifications:

Education level: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.

Experience Industry: Prior experience with newborns and in a medical setting preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Clear seven (7) year background check
  • The ability to have interpersonal communication with the public.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize daily tasks and assignments.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to perform accurate data entry.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity when handling infants.
  • Able to work on weekends and national holidays.
  • Able to work mornings to mid-day- Normal start time 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
  • Vaccinations as required by hospitals, including Flu Vaccine
  • Must be able to pass a Drug Screen.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on program needs, including weekdays, weekends, and holiday shifts, if needed
  • Interact and develop relationships with hospital personnel to ensure effective levels of communication are maintained

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, and push the screening equipment. Perform light physical lifting (up to 25 pounds) on an intermittent basis. Have the ability to stand and walk frequently (95% of shift).

COVID-19 considerations:
All Newborn Hearing Technicians are required to wear Mask, Gown, and Gloves which is provided within the facility. If entering a COVID room N95-respirator, Gown, Gloves, and Eye protection will be provided.
