General Summary

The Department of Special Education & Communication Sciences and Disorders, College of Education at Eastern Michigan University is seeking applicants for one tenure track position in Special Education. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor with a start in Fall, 2025.

The Special Education Program within the Department of Special Education & Communication Sciences and Disorders offers a wide range of undergraduate categorical special education degrees leading to initial state licensure in one or more categories. The program also offers a range of certificate, master's, and specialist programs. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach in two or more areas of the department programs / majors
• Provide academic and scholarly research advising to students
• Engage in research and scholarly activities appropriate to an R2 institution
• Provide service to department, college, and university committees, and impact local and global communities
• Create and co-construct transformative curriculum and enact pedagogy to reflect and support inclusive excellence
• Meet all contractual obligations for tenure-track faculty

Special Instructions :

The successful candidate will serve an eight-month, tenure track appointment with summer employment contingent on student demand and funding. A competitive salary will be based on qualifications and prior experience with a tenure track appointment at the assistant professor rank.
