What You’ll Do
As a Medical Records Specialist, you will play a critical role in the smooth operation of our Medical Records and Quality Management (QM) Department. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in an administrative support role with a specialized focus on patient information, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA and other federal privacy regulations. You’ll be responsible for processing and releasing patient information in accordance with valid consents and legal guidelines. Your work directly supports our mission to maintain patient trust and uphold the highest standards of care.
How You’ll Benefit

You’ll earn a competitive hourly rate of $16.00 - $18.00 (based on experience) plus enjoy a Monday-Friday, 8am-5 pm work schedule. This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside in North Carolina and be located within 60 miles of an ESPH office. After training, occasional travel is required for training sessions and team meetings. Candidates should be comfortable working independently while remaining available for in-person engagements as needed.

What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a reliable, detail-oriented professional with knowledge of HIPAA and medical records processes. Strong communication, organization, and a commitment to confidentiality are essential in this patient and partner facing role. We also require the following:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or 2 years of medical records experience strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational, time management, multitasking, and communication skills.
- Notary Public preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Must have a valid NC driver’s license and insurance.
