Become an Engineer 1 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this entry level engineer role, you’ll be in the Deemed QA/QC team of SCE’s Operational QA/QC organization, under the Customer Programs & Services (CP&S) division providing technical support to SCE’s EE programs.
These programs have multi-million-dollar budgets and incentivize to adopt energy efficient measures (e.g., heat pumps) or behaviors to deliver energy savings. Within these programs, a set of EE projects, known as Deemed projects, require the creation of the measure package that optimizes the installation process and sets the energy savings, which is then used to calculate savings in all future projects involving that measure.
Primary Functions:
- Key support to senior engineers by completing tasks such as:
- Revising measure packages based on feedback
- Translating requirements into actionable steps
- Managing data and oversight to ensure installation procedures are followed – including:
- Verifying that the values entered into cost effectiveness tool (CET) are correct to support solicitations
- Reviewing desktop reviews and site inspections to ensure high-quality and accurate understanding of QA/QC checklists and criteria
- Assisting with desktop review and site inspection training
- Take ownership of defined deliverables, leveraging strong collaboration skills, technical workpaper writing proficiency, and a desire to develop business acumen

Responsibilities
- Prepares technical engineering evaluations and supports the inspections of equipment and operations
- Assists in the review and applications of new technologies to improve quality of service to customers
- Maintains records and documentation on relevant engineering procedures and preventative/ demand maintenance
- Assists with engineering projects using existing procedures to investigate, evaluate and assist in producing technically correct and cost-effective designs and solutions
- Supports the document lifecycle within assigned projects according to defined organizational processes
- Provides operational support to improve customer satisfaction and reliability performance; monitors the trending of electrical system health
- Assists with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Apparent Cause Analysis (ACA), and miscellaneous investigations to troubleshoot problems, making changes to correct them
- Observes all safety policies during the execution of required tasks and ensures safety standards are met and safe working practices are adhered to
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific/technical/math field
- Experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments
- Possess a valid Class C Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications
- FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) / EIT (Engineering in Training) certification
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
- Position will require 5% of traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE territory.
