Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants at Elcor provide occupational therapy services and are primarily concerned with the development, improvement, and/or restoration of patient ADL (Activities of Daily Living) functions, compensation for dysfunction and/or minimization of debilitation, and treatment planning/documentation. Qualified applicants must possess a minimum Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school and hold a current, unencumbered Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state of New York. Job duties include responding to the direction and guidance of Occupational Therapists, providing hands-on therapy and exercises to improve patients' mobility and functionality, and educating patients and their families regarding proper techniques and exercises for continued improvement. Successful candidates will perform job responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner, maintain a working knowledge of skilled restorative therapy and maintenance programs, and possess the ability to communicate professionally, tactfully, and effectively with others, including residents experiencing various impairments (visual, speech, auditory, cognitive, physical, and emotional).
