About the job
Elephants offers great local foods from scratch every day, and much of that food is prepared (cooked, baked, and packaged) at our Milwaukee Production Kitchen. To accomplish this goal, we rely on an exceptional group of food professionals to produce high-quality food products 24/7. We are a speedy team that is constantly evolving to meet the needs of our stores and customers.
We are looking for a skilled Prep Cook who will help break down, dice, julienne, batonnet and paysanne - all our fresh produce and ingredients. You'll get to work with interesting, high-end ingredients while learning the ropes of the production kitchen. You will be following recipes, keeping your space clean and communicating needs to your supervisor!
This is a great development opportunity for a prep person looking to grow their career and experience. We love to cross-train eager learners! This position does require a food handlers card.
We are looking for a Food Prep who can:
- Demonstrate strong knife skills and be able to prep ingredients.
- Thrive in a fast-paced production environment.
- Consistently maintain our high standards for quality, customer service, teamwork, food safety and cleanliness.
- Highly aware and extremely thorough in everything you do.
Other requirements:
- Experience in a kitchen preferred
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs., stand on feet for 8 hours, bend stoop, twist, etc. in a very physical job
- Knowledge of knife safety and solid knife skills
- Basic English is Required for this department
